Overwatch 2 says goodbye to loot boxes, but keeps everything else.
After announcing during the Xbox and Bethesda event on June 12 that Overwatch 2 will finally be free to play and, therefore, leave loot boxes behind to propose a more current and less speculative progression such as the Battle Passes. Blizzard has recently clarified what will happen to those users who have accumulated in your account money and loot boxes after the arrival of OverWatch 2 and its change in strategy.
First, All visits from Overwatch will automatically transfer to Overwatch 2. “All of those existing currencies (credits, OWL tokens, and competitive points) will come with you in Overwatch 2,” confirms Blizzard business leader Jon Spector via an AMA on Reddit (via GamesRadar). As for loot boxes, since they won’t exist in the sequel, they will all open automatically before moving on to Overwatch 2.
“We will not transfer loot boxes to Overwatch 2and prior to launch, any unopened loot boxes will be automatically opened and your account will receive all content directly,” confirms Spector in the absence of revealing more details about this change in progression system ahead of the release of Overwatch 2. Scheduled for the 4th of October on Xbox, Playstation, PC and Nintendo Switch consoles.
More news from Blizzard

We will have to wait until 2023, but confirmed the Necromancer as the fifth and final playable class, and teased some of the most interesting changes in this installment compared to previous games in the series. For example, the new Path of Exile style Paragon levels or that the game will feature crossplay between all platforms.
