During the world premiere of Black Adam the stars behind the project came together to parade down the red carpet; among them, Pierce Brosnan, who stated on video that Doctor Strangethe mystical superhero of Marvel Comics, influenced the veteran histrion to decide to venture into film adaptations about famous vigilantes with superpowers, and in this specific case, to give life to the equivalent of the Sorcerer Supreme in DC Comics: neither more nor less than Dr Fate.
He also took the opportunity to recognize how “epic brilliant” it is benedict cumberbatch as Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
“I loved Doctor Strange and my kids, who are comic book fans, were like, ‘Dad, Doctor Strange.’ Well, we all know who Doctor Strange is, and he’s epically brilliant, Benedict. But then you have the counterpart for that and he is Doctor Fate. And Doctor Fate is very well loved, one of the leading members of the wizarding world,” Brosnan said.
Interestingly, Doctor Fate was introduced in the comics before Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme; the opposite of film adaptations. The DC character first appeared in 1940, while Doctor Strange would not come until 1963.
