The head of the Xbox division, Phil Spencer, will be awarded one of the most special awards in the entire video game industry. The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences has announced that the Lifetime Achievement Award will go to Spencer during the 25th DICE Awards gala.
It is a very special award that recognizes the career of the most important figures in the history of electronic entertainment. The organization highlights that “Phil Spencer has shown passion and leadership throughout his career at Microsoft. The ceremony will take place at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas on February 25 at 5:00 a.m. in Spain (10:00 p.m. in CDMX on February 24). The person in charge of presenting the award and delivering it will be Todd Howard, director and executive producer of Bethesda Game Studios. They specify from the academy that “the recipients [del premio] they are usually people who are distinguished by their business leadership and are not necessarily involved in the development or the creative process.”
Phil Spencer has been a part of the world of technology and entertainment for over 30 years. He joined Microsoft in 1988 and has held numerous roles at the company until being named head of Xbox in 2014. Under his mandate, consoles such as Xbox One X or Xbox Series X / S have seen the light.
He has been involved in purchases from Mojang, Ninja Theory, Playground Games, Bethesda or Activision Blizzard, beyond betting on a subscription model such as Xbox Game Pass. Only seven people have this honor and among them we find Ken Kutaragifather of PlayStation, or the former president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata.
