His collection of more than 1,200 lots will be exhibited from June 10 to 14 in the halls of Christie’s in the French capital.
An online sale of 400 minor lots is scheduled for June 8-23, the auction society said.
In Paris, the public will be able to discover all the treasures that accompanied the designer, who died in 2018, in his private hotel, where he lived with his partner, Philippe Venet. Both shared for years their passion for collecting furniture and art objects.
His collection includes 50 paintings by old and modern great mastersa hundred sculptures, French and European furniture, as well as numerous decorative objects.
De Givenchy, born in Beauvais (north of Paris) in an aristocratic family of Venetian origin, was educated by a great-grandfather who made sets for the Paris Opera, and by a grandfather manager of the Beauvais tapestry factory, who was also a great collector.
