Pegatron joins Foxconn
We had talked about it at the end of November, it’s now official, Pegatron, Apple’s partner in the supply chain is investing $150 million to manufacture components for Apple. As explained two months ago, the company has rented huge premises in the suburbs of Chennai.
State government sources said the company had leased space for Apple-related operations in Tamil Nadu. According to sources familiar with the development, Pegatron has leased half a million square feet in Chennai Industrial Park from real estate company Casa Grande. Pegatron Corporation had approved in November 2020 an investment proposal of 150 million dollars through its subsidiary Pegatron Technology India for its projects in India. Sources said the company will have one or two production facilities in India.
Pegatron will not be Apple’s only partner in the region since it should be remembered that Foxconn is also located there. In addition, it is explained that the recent riots in the Wistron factory-made Pegatron leaders think about the location of the site. This region called Tamil Nadu therefore seems favorable for a serene work within the factory since it is one of the largest places in the world to welcome electronic component manufacturing companies like Samsung, Nokia, Motorola and many more. obviously Foxconn.
