Pecco Bagnaia has conquered his third consecutive pole in the MotoGP World Championship after winning in Q2 of the GP of the Americas with a time of 2: 02.781. The Ducati rider thus maintains a really outstanding streak in which he already has three poles and two victories, a figure in this last section that he may well extend in Texas. Fabio Quartararo and Marc Márquez will start in the front row with the Italian rider after a session in which Jorge Martín finished fourth after narrowly beating Takaaki Nakagami and Johann Zarco on the always spectacular Austin track.
Many were the proper names relegated to Q1 on a really complex weekend with changing track conditions. A scenario in which Luca Marini shone after signing a 2: 03.410 that was worth him to get the first position ahead of Joan Mir. With no option to get close to the top two finishers, Franco Morbidelli and Andrea Dovizioso were third and fourth with the Yamaha. For its part, Valentino Rossi with the last Yamaha went to the ground and he will go to the back of the grid with a gray Aleix Espargaró, very critical throughout the weekend with the safety of the Austin circuit.
With Luca Marini and Joan Mir closing the list of qualified drivers for the final session of the ‘qualy’, Q2 was written in the same code as in the last two Grand Prix. If in Aragon and Misano the fastest was Pecco Bagnaia, in Austin it could not be less. The Ducati rider was once again making the most of the speed of the Demosedici GP21 on the straight to be at the top. With a time of 2: 02.781, Bagnaia took pole after beating Fabio Quartararo by 348 thousandths. For his part, Marc Márquez had to settle for third position.
Although he will start in the front row with his third place, Marc Márquez ended the session with a bittersweet taste to see how his streak of poles in Austin was cut before the push of the fashionable man. All in all, Marc will fight for the top spots after narrowly beating Jorge Martín. The Madrid driver from the Pramac team will share the second row with a great Takaaki Nakagami and Johann Zarco, still convalescing from his recent compartment syndrome operation. Already in third are Álex Rins, Joan Mir and Luca Marini, while in the fourth appear Jack Miller, Brad Binder and Pol Espargaro.
