Pecco Bagnaia has achieved his third consecutive win of the season at the Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix. The Italian returns to cut points with Fabio Quartararo and Aleix Espargaró and fuels his options for the title. Enea Bastianini was overtaken by Pecco Bagnaia in the first meters of the race, although he managed to keep Jack Miller behind. Johann Zarco was one of the riders most penalized at the start after losing four positions and falling to tenth place. However, he was Joan Mir who lived the most bitter moment of the first lap when he went to the ground in the fourth corner. the suzuki rider it flew several meters before impacting heavily on the gravel.
The Aprilia riders made an effort to gain positions in a race that was not easy for them from the start. There were also changes in the top positions. Jack Miller overtook Enea Bastianini on lap four to trail behind their leader. Then began the battle between the ‘Beast’ and the Spanish Jorge Martín for third place. The rivalry would not last long. Bastianini was experiencing problems with his front tire and was forced to retire two laps later.
The official Ducati riders had taken advantage of this situation to open a gap with their pursuers, but Jorge Martín would reduce him to nothing once he was free. It would be before he made his first big mistake. The Pramac Racing driver left the track and was forced to use the loopholes to return to the track. This set led him to lose the position with a Fabio Quartararo who was increasing his race pace. With four laps to go, the Frenchman overtook Miller and was on the hunt for Bagnaia, although it was too late to fight for victory.
The last lap started with the fight between Miller and Martin for the podium. The Spaniard overtook the Australian on the finish straight, but he crashed in the first corner and could only be tenth in the end. Luca Marini and Johann Zarco took advantage of this to finish fourth and fifth respectively, ahead of a Aleix Espargaró who has given ground in the championship after experiencing tire problems. Brad Binder, Álex Rins and Marco Bezzecchi have occupied the remaining positions of the ‘top 10’.
