The field of health is one of the most complex and competitive that exist. For the same reason, so many years of training at the university, internship and social service are required. Although in reality the preparation never ends and can continue after graduating from college. Now there are different tools that are within reach of a click. A special case just became known with a doctor who was caught while training with a Youtube tutorial inside his office.
In this sense, this social network created in 2005 has positioned itself as one of the most important. Just to get an idea of its impact, it currently has two billion monthly active users. While every minute 300 hours of audiovisual content are uploaded to the platform.
Regarding the available content, it is the most varied. Entertainment videos are the most popular and range from movie trailers to those developed by content creators. Although there are also other more specialized ones that are aimed at people in certain sectors such as health.
How much does a doctor earn for making videos on Youtube?
In the past we have shared names of some health professionals who have become influencers. As part of their work, they make videos with different objectives, such as informing about a particular disease or promoting prevention.
Likewise, a long time ago a Mexican doctor published a video to show the payment he gets for making and posting content on Youtube. He calls himself Dr. Re and he himself classifies his channel as “small” because it has just over 16,000 subscribers and his first video was published on January 6, 2020. With this in mind and as he himself shows it, during his first 12 months he has received 543.96 dollars (approximately 10 thousand 878.20 pesos).
Although beyond the payment that the platform offers to content creators, one of the biggest attractions is in the sponsors and alliances that can be established. They range from arousing interest in pharmaceutical companies and hospitals to achieving digital prestige. In the end, the idea is to attract more patients.
Does Youtube work for training doctors?
But now it’s revealed a case that has generated divided opinions. It all happened in the United States when a patient surprised his doctor while consulting a tutorial on YouTube. The moment was captured in a video that immediately went viral on TikTok.
Despite the short length, a couple of doctors are seen looking at a computer in what appears to be a video on how to care for a cyst. Until now, it already has more than five million views, almost 770 thousand “likes” and eight thousand comments.
For its part, the reactions about the doctor who watches the tutorial on YouTube have received opinions both for and against. On the one hand, some support the initiative of the doctors to show interest in their academic preparation. A problem they often face is having little free time and that is why technology offers a solution.
On the other hand, the protagonists of the video have also been criticized because a subject as serious as cysts cannot be “learned” through social networks. Not only for the training of the doctors but for the well-being of the patients.
For now, we share the video that generated this discussion. Now the important thing is to know your point of view about health professionals who use YouTube as a means of study and training.
