The jury noted that the platform makes reading more fun for children and that it has proven effective in the United States, Mexico and other countries. If their arrival in the Netherlands means that the children will read an average of 20 books instead of five, that would have a big impact.
PathBooks’ goal is to continue helping thousands of students discover that reading is wonderful and become lifelong readers as a result.
Caballero said that the objective of the award they won is to stimulate new innovations in the book trade; the jury selected the most innovative, original and sustainable idea of all the proposals.
On Pathbooks, the founder said that it was created in 2018 with the aim of raising the reading habit of Mexicans, both children and young people, as well as adults. They developed technology that allows readers to make decisions and change what the characters do and what happens in each book.
In it are stories of various genres: science fiction, overcoming and adventure; also interactive biographies of historical figures.
It’s not just an app, it’s a whole reading ecosystem for schools. They have teachers’ plans, reading statistics, plus it’s in English and Spanish for bilingual schools.
His platform is currently available as an app to be downloaded on Android, Apple and computer devices, but his main focus is working with schools.
