- Oxxo comes to Formula 1 as a sponsor of the McLaren team. A great moment of international projection for the Mexican brand
- After an important stop, Formula 1 is back
- This year, the Mexican Grand Prix will take place from November 5 to 7
Oxxo is part of Formula 1 during the Belgian Grand Prix; the Mexican brand sponsors the McLaren team.
Formula 1 is back after a major stoppage due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19, the virus that has caused real chaos, in many ways, around the world, including the world of sports, which has been one its main affected.
The arrival of the pandemic put a brake on many of the activities that, in many ways, move the world. Of the long list that had to be canceled or rescheduled, the major sports venues such as the Eurocup, the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games -which are taking place these days-, are just a few that were directly affected by the presence of the Covid-19.
This, of course, has also been a serious problem for the brands that are part of said sports compendia, because, as we saw in the past Olympics, the presence of the virus brought with it a series of regulations that prevent a realization, let’s say, “Normal” of each of the competitions.
However, when we have already passed the middle of 2021, things seem to be a little better compared to what happened last year, although there is still a latent risk and a state of alarm due to the advance of the Delta variant of Covid- 19 which, to this day, remains the most dominant.
This year, Formula 1, one of the major sporting events that have been affected by the pandemic, is making a comeback and does so with an important calendar for the remainder of 2021, with new dates for the Grand Prix of Mexico, the Grand Prix. Prize of Brazil and the Grand Prize of Turkey.
On the other hand, yesterday the Belgian Grand Prix began, where the Mexican brand Oxxo is making an appearance as a sponsor of the McLaren team, joining what, previously, also Mexican brands such as Telmex, Claro, Telcel, Inter protection, Red Cola, Jalisco in Mexico, Pemex and Xades, have carried out.
It is not the first time that Oxxo is present at an event of this magnitude. In 2019, it reached an agreement with the Red Bull team, a fact that placed it on the international level and in an event as important and mediatic as Formula 1.
The cars of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo were adorned with the Mexican brand during the tests of the Belgian Grand Prix at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
These types of scenarios represent a great showcase for brands and companies, given the media importance that they generate around them, and especially at a time when they are back after a relevant break.
As mentioned above, this year contemplates a different panorama compared to what happened in 2020; now, we see how football, to mention one example, is resuming its normality prior to the arrival of the pandemic.
Fans are returning to the stadiums, sponsors are beginning to trust again, and a new post-pandemic era appears to be arriving in high-volume sporting events.
For companies like FEMSA, which is the owner of the convenience stores, these opportunities are of the utmost importance to increase their value as a brand, putting them on an infallible international plane.
An important end of the year is coming for Formula 1 with the recent announcement of the change of dates for the Grand Prix of Mexico, Brazil and Turkey. Without a doubt, after the brake caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, it is a great moment for sponsorships that will take advantage of this type of scenario to shine.
