OWC has announced the launch of a Thunderbolt Dual DisplayPort adapter, a device that allows you to get content from a Thunderbolt port on a Mac, a Windows PC or even an iPad Pro and carry them through two DisplayPort connections to two external monitors.
The new OWC Thunderbolt Dual DisplayPort adapter allows you to obtain a resolution of up to 8K thanks to the DisplayPort 1.4 technology. It is a compact device, black in color, which acts as an intermediary between the connections of the source device and the external monitors.
Up to 2 displays with 4K at 144 Hz
According to OWC, thanks to the adoption of DisplayPort 1.4, this adapter offers up to 4 times more resolution than DisplayPort 1.2. The OWC Thunderbolt Dual DisplayPort adapter is mobile-ready because it uses bus power, so your computer can be powered from a computer’s USB port.
Thunderbolt Dual DisplayPort enables resolution 8K at 30Hz or 8K at 30Hz with DSC (Display Stream Compression). If you prefer to use two monitors, it supports 4K @ 60Hz or 4K @ 144Hz with DSC. These resolutions are valid for games, video, presentations …
Thunderbolt Dual DisplayPort is DSC compliant for higher refresh rates and also with HDR mode for sharper images, brighter colors, and higher contrast. As far as audio is concerned, it supports multi-channel sound and high definition digital audio.
Price and availability
OWC’s Thunderbolt Dual DisplayPort is now available to pre-order at select retailers for a price close to 80 dollars.
