Anyone would say that we are stuck in a time loop, but we are not. Outriders, the multiplayer shooter from People Can Fly, tstill failed to generate profits for the developer. The joint project with Square Enix does not bear the necessary fruits for the team to begin to see how their coffers are filled.
And it is that this same situation occurred in August 2021, with the studio explaining disappointed what happened. In the last tax report issued, it is detailed that the work has not been able to recover the development, marketing and distribution costs invested by Square Enix. Royalties for People Can Fly will come once the initial investment has been paid back.
This lack of money is dated December 31, 2021, so we will have to wait until the next financial statement to see if it really Outriders already produces benefits. However, People Can Fly assures that “there can be no guarantee that the net proceeds from sales in future periods are sufficient for the publisher to recover costs incurred and pay royalties.”
It is clear that at this point the performance of the title in the economic section is being disappointing, although it had a good start at its premiere. The initial release occurred on April 1, 2021 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. The Worldslayer expansion is scheduled to arrive on June 30.
