If the rumors are correct, Oppo is going to follow in the footsteps of other Chinese brands and try its luck in the tablet market. Its possible first model has been seen in a leak and this is all we know so far.
The pandemic has boosted the consumer technology market, as electronic devices have allowed us to stay connected to telecommute, study remotely, and make video calls with family and friends.
Due to this, despite the pandemic, global consumer electronics revenues increased by 7% in 2020 and technology device sales have also grown slightly in the first half of 2021.
The tablet is one of the devices that has been more reinforced after confinement. It has demonstrated its versatility to work, study, consume multimedia content and make video calls, which has boosted its sales. According the data from the consultancy IDC, the market for tablets will grow by 3.4% in 2021.
This rediscovery of tablets by users has made many brands are launching to conquer the Android tablet market.
Rumors in recent months claim that different models are on the way, including the OnePlus tablet, OnePlus Pad; or the realme tablet, realme Pad. In addition, Xiaomi has recently retaken the market with the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and 5 Pro.
Now, A new leak reveals that Oppo is also going to join this trend and that it is already working on its first tablet. The information comes from the popular Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, who has shared a post on Weibo with the key features and a picture of the device.
In the post, the leaker explains that Oppo’s tablet will have a large 12.6-inch screen and as you can see in the attached render its bezels will be very thin. This detail could indicate that it will be a high-end device.
Digital Chat Station notes that Oppo’s tablet will be very similar to the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6, and even the position of the front camera will be the same. In fact, the render that the leaker has included in the publication corresponds to that of the Huawei tablet.
The operating system will be ColorOS For Pad and it will support continuity functions for Oppo mobiles, bluetooth headsets and smartwatches.
This is what we know so far about the Oppo tablet, but since it is unofficial information we will have to wait for the confirmation of the brand.
