Opera’s dedicated Web 3.0 browser, called Opera Crypto Browser, has ventured into the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with its latest launchpad integration.
In an announcement sent to Cointelegraph, the firm stated that it has partnered with Alteon LaunchPad to enable newcomers to the Web 3.0 or digital collectibles space to easily mint NFTs. With the integration, users will be able to access a feature that allows them to drag and upload media files into the browser, which writes a smart contract and uploads the file to a blockchain network, converting the files into NFTs.
According to Opera executive Susie Batt, this will allow users to explore Web 3.0 and contribute to the ecosystem. Batt explained:
“Now, our users will be able to create NFTs instantly and easily, with no platform usage fees, encouraging more people to explore the booming NFT industry.”
With the tool, the team believes that users with no Web3 experience will also be able to tap into the Web3 economy. This means that artists from different backgrounds will be able to create NFTs in a less complicated way.
The NFT minting tool is provided by a company called Alteon, a project focused on simplifying workflows. Matt Cimaglia, co-founder of Alteon, said the goal of this integration is to “level the playing field” for content creators of various origins. “Our partnership with Opera builds a technological bridge between traditional creatives and the Web 3.0 creator economy, so that anyone can benefit from the opportunities that blockchain technologies offer,” he added.
On January 19, Opera launched the beta version of the Web3 browser on Windows, Mac, and Android to allow users to access decentralized applications (DApps), games, and metaverse platforms. On April 15, the project was able to come to iPhone and iPad.
