A doctor has found that the macro function of the iPhone 13 Pro is ideal for checking the eyes.
The iPhone 13 Pro comes with many exciting new features, including a new macro mode on the rear cameras. This new mode allows us to take photos from very close to everyday objects, the iPhone 13 Pro is able to focus at only 2 cm. And although most users have used this new function to take photos in nature, the doctor Tommy Korn has found that it can also be useful for eye treatment.
In a LinkedIn post, the ophthalmologist shared how he has been using his new iPhone 13 Pro Max to check a patient’s eye with the new camera. Thanks to macro mode, Korn can take extremely detailed photos of the eyes of your patients, something that allows you to observe and record important details.
“I have been using the iPhone 13 Pro Max for macro eye photography this week. Impressed. It will innovate in eye care and patient telemedicine. Go ahead to see where it goes … The photos are of a cure for an abrasion that resolves in a corneal transplant. Permission to use photos was obtained. PS: this “professional camera” also includes a phone app!“
Despite having the new macro mode available in the iPhone 13 Pro, Apple has not needed to include a new sensor. The device’s own ultra-wide-angle sensor is what allows these detailed close-up photos to be taken, being able to focus only 2 cm away.
This is just another example of the use of Apple devices in medicine. Not only is the Apple Watch responsible for saving several lives a year by detecting heart problems, recently SpaceX’s Inspiration4 mission used various Apple devices to monitor the health of the crew.
