Formula E’s ‘silly season’ ahead of ‘Season Eight’ continues its course at an accelerated pace. And in this scene of continuous movements, Mahindra Racing has confirmed the signing of Oliver Rowland. The former Nissan driver e.Dams will thus join forces with Alexander Sims, since the Indian structure has also announced the continuity of the British. Thus, Mahindra Racing becomes the fourth formation to complete its line-up for the 2021-22 season after Jaguar -Sam Bird and Mitch Evans-, Nissan e.Dams -Sébastien Buemi and Maximilian Günther- and Porsche -André Lotterer and Pascal Wehrlein-.
Oliver Rowland and Nissan e.Dams announced the end of their relationship weeks ago And since then the rumors pointed to the 29-year-old pilot going to make a stop at Mahindra. With three seasons of Formula E behind him, andOliver’s technical background is remarkable, although his record is even more so. And it is that, in its trajectory in the electrical category, Rowland has achieved a victory, five podiums and five poles. Interestingly, Oliver made his Formula E debut with Mahindra at the 2015 Punta del Este ePrix as a replacement for the injured Nick Heidfeld.
After announcing his signing, Oliver Rowland has assured: «I am very excited to join Mahindra Racing for the ‘Season Eight’. Making the jump to a new team means there will be a transition, but I think the combination of my experience in Formula E and the results that the team has proven last season are enough to think that we have the potential to achieve great things together. I am very happy to have Alexander Sims as my teammate and I look forward to working with him to get the most out of the car and to get good results for the team.
