CinemaCon, the annual event designed to strengthen ties between production and exhibition, left great news yesterday for blockbuster lovers, and that is that, within the framework of the Disney presentation, attendees were given new information about ‘Avatar 2’, the long-awaited sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 bombshell that already has an official title: ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’.
Blue, like the sea, blue
During the panel, producer Jon Landau explained that the feature film, which will hit our movie theaters on December 15will present a story autoconclusive. Similarly, the following films in the franchise will also be independent, but, together, they will shape a larger saga.
“One of the strengths of Jim Cameron’s scripts is that they always deal with themes that are universal and relatable. At the center of each of the four sequels will be the Sully family. Each story will stand on its own and each will have its own story. own conclusion. There will be a satisfying resolution in each film, but when viewed as a whole, the journey through all four creates a larger epic saga.”
For its part, james cameron connected from New Zealand, where he is filming, reaching out to the exhibition sector: “Listen up, Jon and I are here to work with you. The best way is to deliver content that is a must-see-in-the-cinema experience”. Also, he talked about ‘The Way of Water’, promising a show at the forefront of technology.
“We’re pushing the limits even further with higher frame rates, higher 3D resolution and even greater realism in our visual effects. We wanted our return to Pandora to be something truly special. Every shot is designed for the big screen, for the higher resolutions and for the most immersive 3D available. I think we nailed it.”

Along with the statements, in addition to a trailer that, for the moment, only CinemaCon attendees have been able to see — we will be able to see it at the press screening of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, so we will tell you about the week that is coming—but that some already define as more amazing and visually groundbreaking than what was offered to us in 2009it was announced logline of the film, which you can read below.
“Jake Sully lives with his new family on the planet Pandora. When an ancient threat returns to finish what he started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Nav’vi race to protect his planet.”
I will not deny that I have a tremendous desire to get my hands on ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, mainly to see how Cameron and his team have once again squeezed existing technology to offer us a cutting-edge show worthy of the greatest of the screens. If you are in the same situation as me and want to refresh your memory, Disney has announced that the original ‘Avatar’ will be re-released on September 23 with remastered sound to whet your appetite.
