Teased with the Mercedes-Maybach EQS Concept, the flagship of the star’s electric range is ready to be unveiled. The German firm has released the first two teasers showing the new EQS SUV ready to go into production at the American factory in Tuscaloosa, announcing its world debut date.
It was the second model in the range of electric cars of the star brand that was seen camouflaged, a few months after the sedan of the same name. While some opted for a new generation of the EQC, others did so for the EQE, in reality it was the EQS SUV, fulfilling our internal information. A model that will be the true pinnacle of the zero emission range whose development has come to an end, and is ready for world premiere.
Mercedes has released a couple of sneak peeks of the new luxury electric SUV, already devoid of the usual test camouflage and special dress for the occasion. For now, only the front three-quarter view, standing out for the modern design that the Mercedes EQ models wear. Their slim headlamps complement a large grille cover panel, also revealing the side design and the large glass surface. A style that we already saw in the last edition of the Munich Motor Show where the preview of this model was unveiled, the Concept Mercedes-Maybach EQS.

The third model of the firm that is based on the EVA 2.0 platform dedicated exclusively to electric carsand the only one to be offered with a luxurious interior that can accommodate seven passengers distributed in three rows of seats, the second with different electrical regulations. The German brand will also offer a more conventional five-seater option, with great legroom for rear passengers and a cargo volume in the trunk of a leader.
But it’s also the only one of the electric ones that will be able to wear the badge of the luxury sub-brand, Maybach. A long development in which the brand’s technicians have taken pains to adjust all the details and configurations to the millimeter. The new EQS SUV will also feature the dashboard converted into a screen, the sophisticated «MBUX Hyperscreen», with nothing less than 56 inches and more than 1.41 meters of viewing surface. An option in most of the versions, except in the Maybach, although all will have the system of active steering of the rear axle turning the wheels up to a maximum of 10º.
The next April 19th, the new Mercedes EQS SUV will be officially unveiled. Under the body, and between the axles, it will have a new generation battery with nickel cobalt manganese cells, and with a net capacity of 108 kWh that will offer a maximum autonomy of 600 kilometers. Be rechargeable to 80% in just under 30 minutes. The versions will be the same as those offered in the electric saloon, so due to the greater weight, the autonomy will be reduced. In little more than a month, we will know all its details, but we have already warned you that the first units will arrive at European dealers, including Spain, in December.
