We already knew for certain that Adobe Flash Player would be permanently retired on December 31, 2020, as announced by Adobe for three years. Now that its technological death is now concrete, let’s see how to permanently remove it from the Macs on which it was installed.
Adobe itself has in fact recommended with its users to uninstall Flash Player on the machines it was installed on before archiving. This removal is recommended for the safety of users, as outdated versions of Flash Player will not be able to rely on the latest software patches. Let’s see the steps to permanently uninstall it from your Mac:
Removal of privacy permissions
- Access the System Preferences section and then the Flash Player item.
- Select the Advanced tab and click on the option to remove the authorization granted for the PC.
Complete removal of Flash Player
- Search for Adobe Flash Player in apps installed on your PC, or search for it manually through the Finder Applications window.
- Open the Adobe Flash Player Install Manager file in the found folder and select the Uninstall option.
- Wait for confirmation of removal.
- Optionally, you can use a third-party tool such as Clean My Mac or Sensei to delete any leftover files associated with Adobe Flash Player.
