The Frontier Developments team has been analyzing what to do with the current state of Elite Dangerous, as well as its content, which has led to the conclusion of completely cancel any future updates in its version for consolesso the game will no longer receive any more news on PS4 and neither on Xbox One.
To put us in situation, the Odyssey expansion was published in May of last year, but at that time it only saw the light on PC, while on consoles it was supposed to arrive in the fall. However, its launch was somewhat disastrous for the failures it presented, causing great anger in the community.
The company has been working since then on improving the experience as much as possible with updates that it has been publishing little by little, but it is aware that he still has a long job ahead of him. For this reason, the console version of this expansion was indefinitely delayed, which has finally been completely canceled.
Frontier Developments deeply regrets their decision, but states that they need to move forward with the game’s story, so they feel that the only way to do so is focus solely and exclusively on a single code basewhich in this case is the PC version.
In regards to Elite Dangerous consoles, its content will remain in its current state and will not be expanded in any way, unless the studio changes its mind in the future. The only thing you will do from now on is publish patches that try to fix critical bugs to be detected, but nothing more.
