Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games’ 2018 hit, is a western-style action-adventure game set in 1899 in the western, midwestern, and southwestern United States. The open world of Red Dead Redemption 2 it’s a huge playground that players get lost in to discover new secrets, side quests, environmental storytelling, and a host of other things that keep the game alive.
One of the most important aspects of any open world game is movement, as the vast expanse of the map opens up to the player early in the game, allowing free travel to and from either end. Thus, Arthur Morgan’s horse comes in quite handy as players travel through the Wild West to progress through the story and encounter other challenges along the way.
One of these challenges is simply the matter of dodging the NPCs on their own horses along the way. And redditor spaghetti_in_my_shoe shares a video that shows two different moments in which the player character is hit by some NPCs riding horses, even when trying to avoid them.
The video raises a question, perhaps for the developers at Rockstar Games, as to why NPCs they practically pounce on the player. Naturally, the player in the video takes out all of his frustration by proceeding to punch the NPC.
Although the seemingly unnecessary behavior of NPCs often annoys fans and players, the horses of Red Dead Redemption 2 are a classic example of how games give you choice, as you can either take something like rage-inducing frustration and quit, or plunge headlong into the turn-of-the-century world, presenting a new challenge to your game. Arthur Morgan to survive in the game.
