- Twitter has added new options for receiving tips including Paga, Barter, Paytm and Ethereum (ETH).
It doesn’t matter whether or not the Twitter CEO of the moment is a true believer in the world of cryptocurrencies. It is that, it is inevitable to deny that cryptocurrencies are being part of a growing adoption, now, Twitter not only accepts the sending of tips in Bitcoin (BTC), but also in Ethereum (ETH).
As advertised by Twitter the little blue bird social network has added new options for receiving tips. Among them, Paga, Barter, Paytm and most relevantly, Ethereum (ETH).
With this, Ether would be the second cryptocurrency available in this option after, as we covered in Bitcoin Mexico, Bitcoin went toadded a couple of months ago.
“With Tips, we’re creating an easy way to direct people to links to their paid profiles and making it easier to support people who build a community on Twitter, whether you want to support a content creator, help someone raise money funds, give a tip. someone who just needs help or to thank someone for making you laugh”, reads the statement from Twitter.
Twitter and Ethereum
It is worth remembering that this is not Twitter’s first move within the Ethereum blockchain, as recently they would have activated the option to verify the ownership of the NFTs that want to be used as a profile picture.
“We continue to expand the ways to get paid on Twitter, including more options for creators and fans who want to use their cryptocurrency. We are excited to add the ability for anyone to add their ETH address to Tips”. Johnny Winston told Coindesk.
How to add my Ethereum address to tips on Twitter?
First things first, you need a set of preconditions before having the Twitter Tips option enabled.
- Being over 18 years.
- Own an Android or iOS device
- Tips may not be required as a method of payment to promote.
If you meet these conditions you can not only add the Tips option, but also add Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ET) as a payment method.
Step 1: From the mobile application of your choice, we go to the home screen, then we click on our profile picture on the top left, and we click on the “Profile” option.
Step 2: Once here we go to the “Edit Profile” option.
Once here we then go to the “Tips at the end of the list” option.
Step 3: It only remains to activate the tips and place your preferred wallet address, be it BTC or ETH.
What tokens can I add to my ETH address?
It is well known that there are infinite tokens built on the Ethereum blockchain and with ERC-20 technology. So the next question may be can I send USDT or another stablecoin?
The answer is yes, since the Twitter team I have answered that Stablecoins and other tokens can be sent and received in the Tips option.
The historical problem of GAS
So far everything looks great for the Ethereum community who would like to send or receive ETH as a tip on their Twitter. However, there is a vital point that may cut the wings of the use of Ethereum within this Twitter service. Can you imagine it? Yes, the high transaction costs, better known as the “GAS”.
To date, to make a transaction of $1 on the Ethereum Blockchain, it is necessary to pay approximately $13 dollars.
What has generated a large number of users on Twitter have begun to comment if when sending a $1 tip, the user would receive a debt in ETH.
Do you think adding ETH as a tip method is a good option? What other cryptocurrency works best for this feature of the little blue bird’s social network?
