A study reveals that 80 percent of users have discovered new music on TikTok.
According to IFPI, the streaming global accounted for 65 percent of total music revenue.

As is well known, the market for streaming music, today, is dominated by Spotify, a site that recently announced that it managed to exceed 450 million subscribers globallya figure that is apparently unattainable for the competition, be it Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, among others.
And it is that, although it is true that Spotify is the leading platform, in reality streaming has consolidated itself in the main consumption habits of people, which is why, more and more, we hear and read about the relevance of platforms such as Netflix, Spotify, Twitch, among many others, all derived from the boom that digitization has experienced for years.
As far as music is concerned, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) reported that, as of today, there are more than 500 million users of paid subscription accounts, the streaming which represented 65 percent of the total income.
In this context, in 2021, the subscriptions premium managed to increase their income to 8.6 billion dollarsaccording to data from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
That being said, it’s no surprise that today we’re talking about streams and not so much about record sales, although that market did pick up somewhat this year.
Not just Spotify; Bad Bunny consolidates in TikTok Mexico
Recently, Spotify released the list of the most listened to artists in the world, placing at the top, once again, the Puerto Rican Bad Bunny thanks to his album ‘A Summer Without You’which came out in May of this year.
Nevertheless, Spotify is not the only platform where the so-called “Bad Bunny” has positioned his nameas the popular Chinese social network also has good results for the interpreter of “Me Porto Bonito”.
According to information from TikTok, among the songs that were most listened to during 2022 are “Effect” and precisely “I behave pretty”both topics included in ‘A Summer Without You’ from Bad Bunny.

On the other hand, not long ago the social network developed by ByteDance announced the launch of its own streaming musical, TikTok Music, as a way to expand in one of the most competitive markets.
According to the study “Identifying the power of music and artists on TikTok” 80 percent of users have discovered new music on TikTok, far more than on other music platforms streaming.
In short, reality dictates that, in recent years, reggaeton has positioned itself as the music of the new generations, proof of this is the success of events such as the Flowfest Festival and the upcoming Bad Bunny concerts, which are already exhausted.
