When we talk about horror masters in recent years, it is impossible not to mention Super Massive Games. The creators of the recent The Quarry took a solid first step with Until Dawn and continue in their wake of horror with The Dark Pictures Anthology.
Now, the English studio has announced the closing of an agreement whereby 100% of its shares become the property of Nordisk Games. In 2021 the Danish company had already managed to acquire 30.7% of the shares, but the purchase is complete from this moment.
In this way, the developer founded by Pete and Joe Samuels in 2008 closes a stage of solo travel in which it has come to have more than 300 workers on staff. Pete Samuels himself, CEO of Supermassive Games, explains his vision of this business move.
“We have an exciting and ambitious growth strategy for Supermassive Games and ownership of Nordisk Games only enhances it. I am very excited about the security this partnership provides us with and continued access to the Nordisk Games experience.”
For its part, Nordisk Games lands what is already its third wholly-owned studio and gains a foothold along with minority and majority acquisitions in Avalanche Studios Group, Star Stable Entertainment, Flashbulb Games, Nitro Games Y MercurySteam. In turn, the company is part of Nordisk Film, included within Egmont, one of the great Nordic media groups.
