When we talk about icons in the world of video games The Legend of Zelda ranks as one of the top games in history. Ganondorf, Impa, Link and the princess herself, Zelda, are always the characters that receive the most focus.
But there are other characters, secondary without a doubt, who have their share of importance and it is worth knowing their origins. Much more if they keep a story that was developed in their own video game, as happened with Tingle.
Where did this quaint little guy come from? As the portal remembers extra life, tingle He has occupied the two conventional positions of every character in video games: ally and enemy. Although really in the latter he was always a minor villain.
“Tingle, Tingle! Kurulín… PA!”, the character constantly repeats, believing that they are magic words. But he actually has no power. This little guy debuts in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, a video game released by Nintendo in the year 2000.
Since then, apart from his two own titles, he has participated in eight video games in the saga counting the debut one. Out of Termina World is in two versions of Super Smash Bros Tingle is a Hylian, but he differs from this race by his recognizable appearance that is detected by his characteristic face.
He is 35 years old and extremely childish in behavior. This is justified because he is obsessed with the fairies of the forest and his deepest desire is to become one of them. He is officially not the Zelda cartographer, but he was incorporated into that first title with that intention, to deliver the maps to the users.
He wears a green suit, with the underpants sticking out like Superman, with a cobra drawn on the back, presumably to warn off his enemies. He travels in a balloon that he always carries in his backpack for a reason: since he was primarily created to deliver maps he must have access to high places to draw them.
When Eiji Aonuma and those responsible for Majora’s Mask considered the character, they thought that the cartographer should not only reach very high places to be able to observe the entire terrain, but also be in different places at the same time. Remember that time is crucial for the player. So they solved both challenges by creating a character who could float in the air with a balloon.

Who is its creator? There is a myth that says that koji kondo, composer who made the music for the saga, made the caricature of the character. But official records don’t give him credit. Tingle will appear in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a title that should be released in May of this year.
