Subscription services are already very common in the video game industry. Multiple companies offer extensive game catalogs for all users. Now, it was recently revealed that Nintendo is enough with the SwitchOnline, as they have started a new subscription service. Nevertheless, This has nothing to do with software, but with hardware.
Announced only for Japan so far, the Wide Care service is a subscription where users can pay ¥200 yen per month, $30 pesos, or ¥2,000 per year, or $300 pesos, to have your Switch repaired on an ongoing basis. In this way, you can protect your console from different dangers for a whole year.
The service covers deterioration due to prolonged use of the Nintendo Switch, water damage and accidents that have caused damage to the Joy-Con, the dock, the adapters or the console. However, the repair is not unlimited. Wide Care will only allow users to send their device in for repair a maximum of six times a year.with the possibility of replacing the console up to two times in the same period of time.
At the moment it is unknown if Nintendo intends to bring this service to other territories., or if it will only stay in Japan. Considering the cases of Joy-Con drift, this sounds like a temporary solution to this problem. We hope to have more information about Wide Care in the future.
On related topics, a fan spent nearly $900,000 pesos to ask Nintendo a question. Similarly, new Genesis games have come to Switch Online.
Editor’s note:
This is a service I would like to pay for. Having the opportunity to repair any Switch problem for only $300 pesos a year sounds great. Unfortunately, it is very likely that if this service leaves Japan, it will not be available in Mexico and Latin America.
