Do you remember 1-2 Switch, one of the launch games for the Nintendo Switch? I’m sure it did, it sold 3.45 million copies, but just in case: is a game of competitive minigames where, among other things, you can milk a cow with the Joy Con. Well, as we read in Fanbyte, Nintendo has developed a sequel and has no idea what to do with it.
It is explained by Imran Khan, who claims to have received the information from various sources whose connection with Nintendo he has been able to verify. To begin with, at some point in the already troubled development, with those responsible wondering how the heck a sequel to a game like 1-2 switchesthe title was named after Everybody’s 1-2 Switch. They thought that it would not be a very good idea to repeat what was already in 1-2 switches simply adding more minigames, so they chose to make it playable from mobile phones with the possibility of offering lobbies of up to 100 players (hence the Everybody of the title).
The twist was to turn the game into a kind of theme show with a virtual presenter and everyone agreeing to compete in tests such as the typical game of chairs that we have all played as children, spin the bottle or bingo. The problem is that during the testing phase things went very badly: the groups in charge of doing tests found the games boring or they didn’t even finish them. Disaster.
So much so that even Nintendo’s own employees expressed concern about the damage to the company’s image that the launch of the game could cause.
Meanwhile, Nintendo even went so far as to print and put covers on game boxes that, according to this story, are still empty and gathering dust in some corner of their offices.
The current situation is that, indeed, Nintendo Has No Idea What To Do With This Sequel. The company is still wondering if it’s worth releasing as a game at full price ($60), making it an extra for the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, or what.
