This Thursday, September 14, the big N of Japan had a third contact with its fans around the world, with the third Nintendo Direct of the year. Everything seems to indicate that it was the last, but we don’t know how the company may surprise us. For now we are amazed by the announcements of the return of an icon of the nineties: F-Zero 99 and the Mario vs. video game. Donkey Kong.
Specifically, there were announcements for 14 specific video games. Some are new releases and others are additions to new combat features, as is the case with the Super Mario RPG. There is a release date for Princess Peach: ShowTime, which will arrive on March 22, 2024 and the welcome to The Fungle-Among Us to Nintendo, through the Nintendo Switch console.
So let’s share each of the videos that are already on Nintendo’s YouTube account. Let’s start with the main protagonists of the day: the return of F-Zero 99.
It is a sequel to the video game F-Zero, released in 1990 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). The game was developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo.
This title takes place in the year 2560, in a future where futuristic vehicle racing is a popular sport. The player assumes control of one of 30 available pilots, each with their own spaceship and special abilities.
F-Zero 99 rescues that spirit of racing, as we can see in the video that Nintendo shares on its YouTube account.
Mario vs. donkey kong
Nintendo announces a remake of the first game in the series, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, originally released for Game Boy Advance in 2004. This new version, titled in the same way, will be available for Nintendo Switch on February 16, 2024.
The remake will feature updated graphics, a two-player cooperative mode, and new levels and challenges. The game will also feature a “designer challenge” feature, allowing players to create their own custom levels.
