Nil Solans and Marc Martí will compete with a Hyundai i20 WR Coupé in the RACC Rally. The intense negotiations so that the Spanish pilot could lead the unit of Pierre-Louis Loubet were closed in record time, although that does not mean that the margin of maneuver of the eldest of the Solans brothers is very great. Although it is true that Nil has competed in the RACC Rally seven times, the last two at the wheel of a ‘Rally2’ vehicle, his experience at the wheel of a World Rally Car is nil. A complex situation when facing a debut of such magnitude with guarantees.
For that reason, Nil Solans will have the opportunity to test drive the Hyundai i20 WRC Coupé on the Monday before the RACC Rally, in the usual ‘Monday Test’. The oldest of the Solans will thus enjoy a small and intense test with the South Korean firm’s World Rally Car. The Matadepera driver himself has explained that the test with the Hyundai 2C Compétition will allow him to complete about 70 kilometers, almost the minimum distance to know the behavior of the World Rally Car, the differences with the vehicles it has driven and start to know the limits of the car with which you will compete in the Spanish round of the WRC.
The Rallye Team Spain driver has assured in this regard: «I have done this rally many times, so that is already a step that we have taken. Our job will be to get used to the car. It is a new generation of cars for me that we are not used to. The last time here with the ‘Rally2’ it went very well and we set very good times, but now the situation is totally different. In the end, everything has happened very quickly and the goal is to have fun and try to make good times. Being closer to what can be expected from the top drivers will be enough for us».
