Heavy-duty transportation will change completely once the latest version of the Tesla Semi from Tesla Motors, the company that runs Elon Musk. The impressive electric truck broke a new record for autonomous travel, time and weight moved, in its most recent driving test.
According to what is reported Xatakathe Tesla Semi traveled 1,700 kilometers in 24 hours; more than enough time to compete with trucks that run on combustion engines.
That journey was not on a single charge. With the new changes made in the laboratories of Elon Musk’s company, the Tesla Semi can now travel 800 kilometers before replenishing energy. It does all this while carrying a load of 37,000 kilograms, which is equivalent to 37 tons.
The aforementioned site indicates that a report from the North American Council for Freight Transportation Efficiency (NACFE) specifies that the truck travels 1,735 kilometers in a period of 24 hours and about 2,500 in a couple of days.
Elon Musk challenges Bill Gates
“Batteries will probably never be a solution in applications like trucks, cargo ships, and passenger planes,” Bill Gates said of Elon Musk’s initiative. Now the South African tycoon directly challenges him, invalidating these words from the Microsoft co-founder.
Tesla Semi was tested by the aforementioned organization along with 21 other trucks of the same style. They made trips for Pepsi, which already has a fleet acquired from its company since April 2023.
Advantages of heavy duty vehicles
- Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions: Electric vehicles produce no greenhouse gas emissions, making them a more environmentally sustainable option.
- Noise reduction: Electric vehicles are much quieter than internal combustion vehicles, making them more pleasant for pedestrians and urban residents.
