Netflix finds some of its great bets in romantic comedies, such as the latest movie on the platform that was released today. We were songs It is a promising success that we have already seen and that has made us fall in love.
María Valverde and Álex González are the protagonists of the adaptation of Elísabet Benavent’s bilogy Songs and memories. The film, directed by Juana Macías (Mothers Love and life) is a fun and simple romantic comedy that seems designed to give us a fun time.
Songs and memories (case with We were songs | We will be memories) (Best Seller)
Susana Abaitua (Homeland), Elisabet Casanovas (Drama), Carlo Constanzia (Toy boy), Eva Ugarte (look what you have done) or Miri Pérez-Cabrero (ex-MasterChef contestant) complete the cast of this film with which we will learn an important lesson, that of loving ourselves in order to later love others.
The story begins with Maca, a 29-year-old woman who has a precarious job as an assistant to an influencer with the air of a diva and who after her first love disappeared without saying anything else, she has been touched forever. He flees from relationships and any type of commitment and has become anchored in a conformist reality. Along with her are Jimena and Adriana, two lifelong friends who are not without problems either. Suddenly Everything gets complicated when Leo, Maca’s great love, reappears in her life.
The film has managed to capture the importance that is given to music in the novel, although it is not the same songs that do not stop breaking into the life of the protagonist in a thousand ways. But above all, it has captured the vision of the millennial generation about precarious work, love, sexual discovery, friendship or self-love.
He has known how to update the novel to make it a more current and feminist film that gives us many keys to romantic love and how on many occasions it is a cultural backpack that is left over and that prevents us from feeling complete being single.
A Madrid like in the series Valeria, vital part of the film, and also as in the series, a soundtrack with a hook in which we can listen from In Spain we call it Soledad from Rigoberta Bandini to Last nite of The Strokes and a little journey of self-knowledge with María Valverde, without a doubt the best of the cast.
It is true that I have plenty of Valverde breaking the fourth wall as they did in Fleabagbut I’m sure it will be a success in the style of Crazy for her, because it is easy to watch and offers almost two hours of entertainment ideal for not thinking about anything. And the best, it leaves us a moral worthy of a fairy tale: that of loving you first to love later better.
