The Ozark television series, available on Netflix, has taken one of the keys to Breaking Bad and copied it into its history.
Some similarities have been noted between Ozarks Y breakingbad, but in the case of the series Netflix is Wendy (Laura Linney) and not Marty the one who has become a villain over time. Wendy is not the usual wife in the stories of criminals and mobsters. She is not an innocent and unaware victim, but she is as much or more involved than her husband in the family’s criminal schemes. As she comes to terms with the new life Marty has imposed on her family, Wendy begins to feel more and more alive. A character arc copied directly from the legendary Walter White (Bryan Cranston).
So much Ozarks What breaking bad they surprised viewers through their gripping stories and complex character developments. Perhaps the Netflix series is a darker and faster version of the story of Vince Gilligan. It tells the story of a man dissatisfied with his life who enters the underworld due to a series of catastrophic misfortunes. Luckily, he ends up prospering. While Walter White’s story doesn’t feature his family, Marty’s does get involved in criminal business, devising her own schemes and helping her husband.
From housewife to criminal villain
Wendy Byrde has “copied” Walter White with his transformation throughout the four seasons of Ozarks. From her origins to his most ruthless actions, she has inevitably reminded us of the protagonist of breaking bad. Wendy goes through all the stages of a character that gradually transforms into a villain. She goes from being an unhappy and unfaithful housewife to a matriarch of crime who takes control of the family businesses from her. Often without even her husband’s knowledge or approval. As it happened to Walter White, Wendy feels more and more “alive” with the life that she has. She ends up accepting her identity as a villain and relinquishes her former innocence.
