Dark is one of the most acclaimed series of Netflix, with its apocalyptic plot of time travel that captivated the subscribers of the streaming platform. The creators of German fiction, Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, have aligned themselves to develop a new, mysterious and terrifying story: “1899″.
This series began filming in May 2021 and since then it has generated expectation, especially because of how successful Dark was and because of all the ingredients that the productions share.
Through the different social media accounts, Netflix shared a new poster for the series, which shows a ship about to fall into an inverted triangle-shaped hole in the middle of the sea and with the text: “What is lost will be found”.
“Wait what? A journey, mystery, terror… ‘1899’ is from the creators of Dark and is coming soon. I already need it!”, writes the big N in the publication on Instagram, without clarifying the release date.
Additionally, the series account posted an animated promotional clip, which is basically the same poster, but with animation and sound. It’s very scary.
What is 1899 about?
1899 is an ambitious horror-mystery period show created by Friese and bo Odar. It is set in the year of its name and the plot will take place on a European migrant ship that travels from London to the United States.seeking a better life in the new century.
The boat will meet another one on the high seas, which will mark the beginning of a true nightmare of eight episodes and one hour each.
As for the cast, the creators of Dark bring their new project for a leading role to Andreas Pietschmann, the actor who played the adult version of Jonas Kahnwald.
1899 will have in its cast Emily Beecham, Miguel Bernardeau, Maciej Musial, Anton Lesser, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Rosalie Craig, Clara Rosager, Maria Erwolter, Yann Gael, among others.
