The narrative genre with decision-making has been installed among us for a long time and there are great references in the industry. Telltale Games is one of them with its proposals based on franchises of all kinds, while QuanticDream It has always been erected as the fundamental pillar for this kind of work.
Precisely the developer led by David Cage is in the orbit of NetEase, as reported by eXputer. The media indicates that the Chinese company intends to acquire 100% ownership of the French studio and with an announcement that will take place this summer.
The sources consulted by Tom Henderson indicate that the deal has been brewing for months, although it is still not clear why it has not been carried out. It is not the first time that NetEase and Quantic Dream have strengthened ties, since the multinational became part of the developer’s shareholding in 2019.
They explain from the media that Quantic Dream has long sought a purchase of the studio after the end of the agreement with Sony to make three games. This alliance expired in 2018 after the release of Detroit: Become Human. In fact, until now the idea was to go through the self-publishing of his works, but it seems that this objective has not ended up penetrating.
Of course, right now they have one of their most ambitious projects underway with Star Wars Eclipse. In this case they abandon the pure narrative and it will be the first time that they immerse themselves in the action in a galaxy far, far away. Meanwhile, NetEase was made a few months ago with Grasshopper Manufacture, in an agreement very similar to the one that wants to be made with Quantic Dream.
