Natural deodorants are 100% healthy products, which do not contain harmful chemical substances in their composition. There are many basic ideas and compositions to choose from.
Contrary to conventional ones, natural deodorants are those that do not have chemical substances but are made with 100% natural components. Next, we will see the reasons for not buying chemical deodorants and which of the natural ones are the ones that best adapt to each need.
What elements of common deodorants affect the body?
The armpit is a delicate and sensitive region, especially regarding its proximity to the breasts. Chemicals are absorbed very quickly in this area and the risk of side effects is always present. There are some chemicals with higher toxicity, including:
- Parabens: these are actually preservatives. Some varieties are methylparaben, benzyl paraben, or propylparaben. The parabens in deodorants mainly affect the endocrine system.
- Aluminum hydrochloride: it is the component that makes antiperspirants prevent sweating. Aluminum hydrochloride clogs the pores, generating from granites to painful cysts in the armpits.
- Synthetic perfumes: This is equivalent to a mixture of chemicals that can affect the resistance of the outer and protective layer of the skin. The flalato is one of the most used chemicals to maintain an attractive aroma.
- Preservatives: Among others triclosan or phenoxyethanol. Preservatives are antibacterial that prevent the degradation of the compounds. The problem is that they operate as disruptors of the endocrine system.
The alternative: natural deodorants
Natural deodorants do not clog pores, that is, they do not block sweating. Through sweat, the body eliminates toxins, which is essential for good organic functioning and serves the body to regulate its temperature. On the other hand, it is possible to reduce the smell of sweat without resorting to chemicals.
In natural cosmetics, ingredients with antiperspirant function allow a wide margin of sweating. Its compounds are based on minerals, oils and essences that fulfill the same roles as chemicals but in a natural way.
Some ways to prepare natural deodorants
There are two large sets of ingredients that serve as the basis for preparing natural, ecological and organic deodorants. This implies a 100% chemical-free product for the body.
- Ecological deodorants with alum stone: Alum stone is a natural antiperspirant. Its advantage is that it does not close the pores completely, but allows moderate sweating. In addition, it generates a protective film on the skin with an antibacterial effect.
In these cases, natural deodorants can be presented as a solid material that will be passed through the armpit. There are also liquid alternatives with its spray version.
- Ecological deodorants of essential oils: essential oils are the base of all creams, deodorants and perfumes. Antiseptic and antibacterial properties are obtained from plants such as rosemary, tea, lavender, lemon or ylan ylang, among others.
Two specific natural deodorants
- Herbal, from Mádara: contains antiseptic properties thanks to sage and other soothing plants such as marigold or chamomile. To avoid unpleasant odor, this cosmetic includes alum stone. As for healing qualities, it is the rose or glycerin that are responsible for giving a touch of protection.
- Costs: It is one of the favorites of many lovers of natural products. Especially since it contains a fungus called Saccharomyces, which acts as a sweat inhibitor. It also contains alum stone to reduce sweating and Aloe vera glycerin to soften the area.
Note: natural products can also cause allergies to some components, such as some plants. Therefore, attention should be paid and the possible undesired effects must be monitored. If in doubt, consult your health specialist.
Finally, it is evident that any chemical or artificial product related to the body must be studied to avoid adverse damage. In the case of cosmetics, awareness towards the natural, including natural deodorants, grows day by day.
