Dr. Tamitha Skov, popularly known as “The Space Weather Woman”revealed details about this phenomenon and its possible effects on our planet.
“Direct hit! A snake-shaped filament from a solar storm will hit Earth,” the US Aerospace Corporation scientist detailed on her Twitter account.
Through his publications, Skov indicated through a video graph in which the eventual movements of the spatial effect can be seen, where he affirms that “the long snake-shaped filament moves through the Sun in an impressive ballet.” “The magnetic orientation of this Earth-directed solar storm is going to be difficult to predict. If the magnetic field of this storm is oriented to the south, conditions of level G2 (possibly G3) may occur.“, he adds in his description of the phenomenon on Twitter.

The G levels in which this category of affectation is created are classified from 1 to 5, with 1 being the least and 5 being the most intense recorded. Based on this, the effects on the planet could be moderate. NASA describes that during a solar storm “explosions known as solar flares occur”, which are responsible for “sending tons of energy into space at the speed of light”, sometimes “they are accompanied by huge solar flares, called ‘coronal mass ejections,'” he details.
“All this extra radiation can damage the satellites we use for communications and navigation, and can disrupt power grids. Radiation from solar storms is also dangerous for astronauts in space,” adds the American space agency.
These effects take place periodically with various affectations, although as indicated this mostly has implications in telecommunication devices.
