It’s one thing for astronauts to go to the Moon on space missions for a certain amount of time. Another, utopian, that they stay living on the satellite. For this reason, an astronomer from the POT explained the reason why humans will never live on the lunar surface.
It is true that within the space agencies there is the idea of colonizing satellites, planets and expanding the human race throughout the universe. It seems like a science fiction script, but the reality is that many scientists have this idea traced, beyond the fact that it passes from generation to generation.
Cologne? Spacial base? Futuristic city? There are several possibilities to imagine what man’s permanent life on the Moon would be like, but for Stan Love, a NASA astronaut, the idea of living on our natural satellite It’s like living in Antarctica, where there are only research bases.
The reason explained by the astronaut
Quoted in a report published on the website of computer todayLove pointed to the sun what while some humans will live on the Moon for work, they won’t settle there permanently, especially with families being so far away.
“I think they will live on the Moon and have a base there. But I don’t imagine they will move their families. My example is Antarctica. We’ve had people in Antarctica continuously since 1957 and that was about 60 years ago, and no one has moved their family there.”, details the astronaut.
Stan Love considers that any future lunar base will be treated more like a research station than a city: “It will be like a research station in Antarctica. Antarctica is a very good analogy for the Moon, it has been used for science”.
Despite this expert theory, NASA thinks the opposite. The US space agency has given Icon, a 3D printing company, more than $57 million to develop a plan to build infrastructure on the surface of the Moon.
