THEY ARE EASY TO HURT IF YOU PERFORM IMPROPER PROCEDURES: WE HELP YOU LEARN THEIR CARE
In the first days (or even weeks) of being born, your baby can present that classic snoring between the nose and the throat that moms can make us very desperate since we feel that it is difficult for them to breathe. However, it is normal because it is still expelling the excess amniotic fluid that it kept in its lungs, in addition to the mucus that helps it lubricate its airway, protecting it. In fact, it is common that at this stage your baby sneezes frequently at the slightest change in temperature, without this necessarily being related to a cold.
THINGS TO DO AND KNOW:
If you can see the snot when lifting their heads or peek out of the nostrils, you can remove them as if you were going to sound your baby or help you with a rubber knob; but you should not insert it into the nostril – this can irritate or injure you.
If the mucus is very deep, it is best to cause it to follow its natural path: towards the throat and from there… glup!, to the tummy. Here are some tips to facilitate this step:
Use the baby saline sprays; lubricate the mucosa and sweep excess mucus into the throat.
Put a saline solution (physiological) with a syringe without a needle: place your baby on his side and apply 5 ml of the solution, first in one fossa and then in the other.
Apply a dropper of breast milk in each nostril and keep your baby on his back with the chin as close to the chest as possible. Breast milk softens mucus.
