Seeing the amount of study purchases that have been made in recent weeks, it is clear that nobody here wants to waste time when it comes to expanding their ranks. The last to join this initiative has been Nacon after communicating that has bought Daedelic Entertainment.
The deal has been closed by a total of 53 million euros, of which he has paid 32 million at the time of signing. Even so, both companies had a close relationship, since Nacon was going to be in charge of the distribution of the future Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which is being developed by Daedelic Entertainment.
Previously the team based in Hamburg, Germany, and made up of 87 people, has worked on the development and publication of more than 90 video gamesincluding the Deponia saga, Shadow Tactics, The Whispered World, Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth, and many other titles since it was founded in 2007.
Joining Nacon will allow the studio increase your development team and strengthen your position as a publisher. Carsten Fichtelmann, founder and CEO of Daedalic Entertainment, along with Stephan Harms, COO, will continue to lead the company, while Nacon will support all of its projects by combining forces with its sales, publishing and marketing teams.
Precisely Carsten Fichtelman has wanted to pronounce on this movement that has occurred in the company and what it means to ally with Nacon:
After eventful years in which we always came out ahead, I am proud to look back on the last 15 years of the company’s development. Daedalic Entertainment has established itself as a publisher and developer of exceptional games across multiple genres on all relevant platforms and has cemented that position globally. Together with Nacon, we are now taking the next step to expand our catalog created by our own team as well as many amazing independent studios.
For its part, Alain Falconexecutive director of Nacon, considers that this union was a logical step as both companies share the same values:
We knew through our current collaboration at Gollum that we shared the same values and goals to deliver unique experiences to players. So it seemed logical to go down that road together and we are very happy with this acquisition. It represents a significant step in Nacon’s strategy.
