Although both are diseases that cause “blisters”the hand-foot-and-mouth disease It is caused by a virus called coxsackie, and unlike chickenpox, the first affects the hands and soles of the feet, but the most annoying will be those that come out in the oral mucosa, it is very contagious, and its incubation period is only 3 to 5 days.

It is common to cause epidemiological outbreaks in nurseries. It is important to keep children adequately hydrated.Well, as I mentioned earlier, lesions in the mouth can be very annoying, which will prevent the patient from wanting to eat solid, hot or acidic food. What I recommend to my patients is to give soft and fresh foods. The use of topical anesthetics is not recommended due to the risk it represents for infants and/or preschool children. General involvement is rare.
The best way to prevent is proper washing of hands and surfaces, as well as the use of face masks in patients that due to their age they can carry it, since there is no vaccine for this entity. The contagion is through aerosols and contact with surfaces contaminated with the virus. Treatment is only symptomatic. And a lot of patience.
The ideal way to cut transmission and therefore the spread of the virus is to prevent children with this type of injury from entering daycare centers.
Most cases of infection with this virus There are no complications and they resolve in about a week.
So the next time your little one develops blistering lesions, come with you
trusted pediatricianWell, we will not always be talking about chickenpox. And be aware and do not go to their daycare or activities where there are more children. In order to avoid affecting smaller ones.
