The official synopsis of Mr. Harrigan’s phone anticipate the following:
“When Craig, a small-town boy, befriends Mr. Harrigan, an elderly and reclusive billionaire, the two develop an unusual bond over their common passion for books and reading. But after the death of Mr. Harrigan, Craig discovers that death is not the end of everything: strangely enough, it turns out that he can communicate with his deceased friend in the afterlife through an iPhone. A supernatural coming-of-age tale that shows there are bonds that are never lost.”

In interview with Colliderdirector John Lee Hancock mentioned that, more than a traditional horror film, this is a film that combines various concerns of contemporary society.
“There is a story coming-of-age, but it is rather paranormal. And on the surface there is a bit of trepidation and weirdness. I also appreciate the themes it has about technology, and good and evil, and how it affects us all.”

The direction and the script are in charge of John Lee Hancock (A possible dream, Hungry for power), and will be produced by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, Glee), Jason Blum (run away, halloween) and Carla Hacken (Enemy of all, on the tightrope).
