The Morena deputy called on his counterparts to work on the rregularization of euthanasia in the country, after recognizing that Mexico is a state that protects human rights and the self-determination of people.
In addition, he mentioned that the regulation of the euthanasia in Mexicoin case it is approved in the Legislative, could mean in terms of investment in health, a “savings” for the State.
He stressed that palliative care provided in the health sector is not cheap
Before making his comment, he warned that many people probably think like him, but do not say so openly.
He stressed that palliative care provided in the health sector is not cheap, and if euthanasia were properly regulated, “could lighten” public health costs.
“It could be that in economic terms it could even represent savings for the State, because palliative care is not cheap, it is not cheap, so if we see it in a very strict sense, it could be that if we go to the regulation of euthanasia , instead of resulting in an increase in the budget, could alleviate the cost of investment in public health, “he said.
For its part, UNAM, the coordinator of Humanities of the National University, Guadalupe Valencia García, spoke on the subject:
What is euthanasia?
It is a process in which the patient decides to end his life attended by a doctor, it is also known as a dignified death and it occurs when a person’s state of health does not allow them to live fully or they face a terminal illness.
For its part, the Faculty of Medicine of the UNAM, considers that it is important to legislate and lay the foundations for what a dignified death is to encourage citizens to make an informed and appropriate decision. It is a matter in which doctors and hospital centers should be updated and of course regulated.
The issue will continue to be addressed on June 24 in Euthanasia Week.
