Marvel Studios released the first trailer for its Disney Plus series “Moon Knight” on Tuesday, January 18, officially launching the 2022 production slate for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
On “Moon Knight,” which will premiere on March 30, 2022, oscar isaac plays Steven Grant, a gift shop worker who remembers other lives and ends up involved in a war between gods.
The series has 6 chapters of 40 minutes.
Along with Isaac, actor Ethan Hawke completes the cast as the main villain.
Grant has dissociative identity disorder so he shares a body with Marc Spector, a former soldier. As Grant/Spector’s enemies converge, they must come to terms with their complex identities in the midst of a mysterious feud between powerful Egyptian gods.
Moon Knight trailer
In the trailer, it is noted that Marc is unable to see the difference between his “normal” life and his nightmares. He plays with a Rubik’s cube and then wakes up in a panic with his leg tied to the bed. He has evidently forgotten that it was he who chained himself during the night.
After visiting a museum about Egyptian lore, he meets the villain played by Hawke, who encourages him to join the “darkness” that dwells within himself.
The trailer ends with Spector clad in his Moon Knight costume brutally beating a stranger inside a bathroom.
Moon Knight is different from previous Marvel Studios series for Disney+ (Disney Plus) in that it doesn’t focus on characters that already existed spin-offs from the movies, like the 2021 releases.
Moon Knight follows a new path, with a group of unknown characters and a story that, for now, has no direct connection to the MCU.
Moon Knight debuted in Marvel comics in 1976.
In his early days, he had superpowers that were based on the phases of the moon.
That has caused fans to compare the character to DC Comics’ Batman.
Marvel Studios will also premiere in 2022 for the Disney Plus streaming services “She Hulk”, a comedy starring Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Josh Segarra and Jameela Jamil.
Another 2022 premiere: “Em Marvel”, a dramatic comedy starring Iman Vellani, and the second season of “What if…?”.
