Early access for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II campaign kicked off last week and the community’s reception and passion for the franchise has been as expected after the players record which recorded the Beta test of the new installment developed by Infinity Ward.
However, the Californian studio also got valuable comments and very constructive feedback from players. Thus, the subsidiary of Activision Blizzard has taken the opportunity to carry out some multiplayer changes of Modern Warfare II, just in time for the title’s premiere tomorrow, October 28.
Changes with the Modern Warfare 2 release patch
From Infinity Ward have detailed all the changes that the game will undergo on its launch day:
enemy visibility
- We have added diamond icons above the heads of the enemies. This should make it easier for players to clearly identify opponents in-game.
- Additionally, we continue to adjust lighting and contrast to improve enemy visibility.
Audio
- We’ve shortened the overall range of footstep audio, which will allow enemy players to get closer to targets before they can detect footsteps. We’re also continuing to tweak teammate footstep audio, which will now be quieter following Beta feedback.
- The volume range on the trigger sound effect has been drastically reduced.
Third person
- Following feedback from the Beta, aiming down sights will now stay in third person for low zoom optics. Only high zoom optics and special optics like Hybrids and Thermals will go back to first person. We think this will improve the third person experience while keeping the game balanced. Feedback on this mod has been very positive and we will continue to explore its use as a modifier.
Weapons
- We continue to tweak all weapons based on Beta player feedback and in-game data. Players can expect more details on weapon tuning as we continue to support post-launch.
User interface
- We’ve been hard at work on numerous updates to our user interface that make it easier to access and customize your computer. We have made improvements to menu navigation and will continue to improve it.
Movement
- The slide, ledge drop, and dive have been further refined. We have also addressed some movement vulnerabilities after Beta testing.
Mathmaking
- We’ve implemented some changes that aim to reduce lobby dissolving between matches. We look forward to testing this on a large scale and receiving feedback.
