Modders already preparing a multiplayer version of Breath of the Wild

After offering a $ 10,000 reward to anyone who could create a component multiplayer For The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a team is developing a mod that does just that. Breath of the Wild is considered one of the best Nintendo Switch games, however, its lack of a multiplayer mode is something that is always sorely missed.

Since its release, we have seen multiple mods for Breath of the Wild. Perhaps the most ambitious is the “Second Wind” mod, which offers extensive additions to the base game, including new enemies, locations, and items. Other mods offer players something more humorous, such as mods that change the appearance of standard characters to Shrek, Thomas the Tank Engine, and even Woody from Toy Story. But while all these additions are fun, Breath of the Wild is still single player.

This could change thanks to a mod that is in development. Modder Alex Mangue, along with Sweet and Ethi, has uploaded new images of his initial version of a mod to YouTube multiplayer for Breath of the Wild “Developing”. The video shows the hero of the series, Link, exploring Hyrule with his companions Revali and Mipha. Working together in cooperative mode, the three champions ditch the Bokoblins camps, use stealth to get close to unsuspecting Lizalfos, and scale the kingdom’s Lake Tower, even finding time for a group selfie.

Mod development comes after YouTuber PointCrow asked for a mod multiplayer for BotW last year, offering $ 10,000 to the first person or team to complete the challenge. Although the project has only just begun, its creation is an exciting event for Zelda fans eager to enjoy multiplayer. There is still a lot of work to do on the mod before it’s ready to be released to the public, as the animations are pretty shaky, but it’s certainly a promising start.

As work continues on this Breath of the Wild mod, many want to know more about BotW 2. Nintendo hasn’t revealed much about what its next installment in the series will entail, with teasers offering more questions than answers. The game seems to be aiming for a darker hue, much like Majora’s Mask compared to Ocarina of Time (although Nintendo has already assured players that Breath of the Wild 2 will be unique, and not a copy of Majora’s Mask). The sequel will go on sale sometime this year, so there will likely be more news on it soon.
