This is one of those functions that we could never have imagined and that, once known, seems essential to us in order to avoid theft and unwanted unlocks. A new closed beta of the Chinese version of MIUI 12.5 has presented a very interesting new function with which to protect our Xiaomi.
The measure in question is simple: when the smartphone is locked and the SIM card has been removed, the mobile will begin to vibrate for 30 seconds. After this notice we will have to confirm that we are the legitimate owners of the mobile and unlock it. Otherwise, the mobile will go into lost mode.
A definitive measure to prevent theft
From the MIUIes forums we get this new feature that is only present in the latest MIUI Closed Beta. Therefore, we are facing one of the measures that we will see formally implemented in MIUI 13.
Until now, every time you took out the SIM card from your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO smartphone disconnection was only indicated by a short vibration and the terminal was left without internet access.
This measure left the mobile phone helpless as it lost the ability to find itself through the find-your-phone tool or other alternatives that require an Internet connection to find your mobile.
The new measure avoids this situation and gives you 30 seconds of margin to confirm the screen lock and the identity of the user. That is, if you have not entered your PIN within 30 seconds, the mobile enters lost mode and the data inside will no longer be accessible, so it will be protected from any intrusion to prevent someone from trying to factory reset and resell it, for example. A great measure to protect your Xiaomi against theft.
