Minecraft is one of the biggest Xbox franchises. It’s no wonder the Minecraft franchise has expanded dramatically in recent years, with projects like Minecraft Earth, Minecraft Story Mode, and Minecraft Dungeons. During the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, the latest Minecraft spin-off was announced, Minecraft Legends.
To the surprise of many, Minecraft Legends is an action-strategy game where players take back the Overworld by building their own armies. The Minecraft Legends announcement trailer posed the threat of an organized army of piglins looking to corrupt the Minecraft Overworld.
Players will have to build their own armies by making amazing new allies and then lead them into battle against the Minecraft piglins. These battles will take place throughout the Overworld, filled with a diverse range of biomes, abundant resources, and all manner of life.
A clue to the nature of Minecraft Legends are the co-developers of the game. Mojang has partnered with Blackbird Interactive to create Minecraft Legends. Blackbird is no stranger to Minecraft, having worked with Mojang on Minecraft Earth. Blackbird is also currently working on massive strategy games like Homeworld 3 and Crossfire: Legion, which makes his involvement in Minecraft Legends quite promising.
Like all first-party Xbox games currently in development, Minecraft Legends is confirmed to be a Day One release for Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. And there will surely be more information about Minecraft Legends in the coming months.
Minecraft Legends will arrive in 2023 on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
