Mikel Arriola, president of Liga MX, announced, for the time being, some sanctions after what happened in the match between Querétaro and Atlas; a fuller report is expected on Tuesday.
Through a press conference together with Gabriel Solares, president of the Gallos Blancos del Querétaro, Mikel Arriola announced what will be the sanctions that, for the time being, will be carried out as a result of the brawl that arose in the Corregidora Stadium .
The violence exhibited yesterday in the middle of the meeting between Querétaro and the Atlas has made world news, crossed borders and, from various trenches, the Mexican authorities have been demanded to carry out a thorough investigation and punish those responsible.
Voices from both soccer and other industries have spoken out against the events that occurred in Querétaro, where, according to “off-field” information, around 20 people have died and others are reported seriously injured.
While that is being determined, what has been mentioned today is what will happen, for the time being, with the Gallos Blancos and with Liga MX, given that the rest of matchday 9 had to be suspended due to the acts shown by fans in La Corregidora yesterday.
In this way, Mikel Arriola, in a press conference with the president of Querétaro, Gabriel Solares, announced that “The visiting fans, starting today, will no longer be able to go to the stadiums”at the same time it was confirmed that the Corregidora Stadium will be suspended from all football activities and that, even, the disaffiliation of Querétaro is a real possibility.
“All the scenarios are on the table, but it must be analyzed, because we cannot make a decision that does not have the vision of all the parties, so that we know those sanctions,” Arriola explained.
For his part, Gabriel Solares, president of the Gallos Blancos club, announced that there was not an adequate level of security. “It was not a correct (safety) device, not so much because of the quantity, but because of the way”said the leader.
It should be noted that, according to what was mentioned by Mikel Arriola, next Tuesday there will be an owners’ meeting in which the future of the Closing Tournament will be discussed, which could be suspended, in addition to the fact that, in the event that the season continues , the capacity in the stadiums will be analyzed so that a case like the one between Querétaro and Atlas does not happen again.
It will be until Tuesday, according to what Arriola said, when the consequences of what happened yesterday in the game of day 9 that pitted Querétaro against Atlas will be known, being one of the most unfortunate episodes in the history of soccer. Mexican.
Without a doubt, the fact that the visiting fans can no longer go to the stadiums is a strong blow to Liga MX; a decision very similar to the one taken in Argentina, where Boca Juniors fans cannot step on the River Plate field and vice versa, due to the high rates of violence that have been recorded in that country.
