The new generation of Microsoft consoles hit the market during the month of November 2020, achieving the best historical start of a generation by Redmond. So much so, that the Xbox Series X|S has already surpassed the GameCube in sales in the UK market. However, that does not mean that hands are crossed from the company’s offices.
Recently some rumors have pointed to the possibility of new Xbox hardware being announced this year, which has sparked rumors about a possible portable console, or even an intermediate version between Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. However, a Recent information could point the other way, as it appears that Microsoft is working on an overhaul of the Xbox Series X chip.
Microsoft would be working on a review of the Xbox Series X chip
The information comes from a video of brad samsa youtuber who has claimed to have heard that work is being done on a revision of the Xbox Series X chip that would have better cooling, be smaller and have better energy efficiency than the current one.
Microsoft would have paid a high sum to have chip priority, to increase the stock of Xbox Series X | S
Sams states that he believes this information to be real, as the Xbox Series X has already passed the “marked” time for a potential chip overhaul. The youtuber assures that every few months, Microsoft usually works on chip reviews of its consoles, with the aim of improving elements such as those explained above, so it would be quite normal for there to be a review of the Xbox Series X chip soon.
However, it is necessary to clarify something very important, and that is that said review would not mean an increase in the raw power of the console. These types of “updates” are usually focused on improving aspects related to consumption and temperatures, so in no case would we find ourselves facing an Xbox Series X upgrade.
