Microsoft, like almost all technology companies, have very firm lines and criteria when it comes to repairing their products, since doing so voids the warranty and a series of benefits that are had with the brand. Fortunately for users, Microsoft would be considering allowing Xbox owners the “right to repair”, becoming one of the first companies to support this type of initiative.
As detailed in the portal Grist, the giant Microsoft has reached an agreement with a group of non-profit investors called As You Sow, to hire an external company and carry out an investigation on this subject. This research will focus on the possibilities, benefits and cons of allowing users to repair their own products, without invalidating any type of guarantee or anything like that.
Microsoft is considering allowing Xbox owners the “right to repair”

Today, users have the right to do whatever they can with the technology products they buy, whether it be dismantling them, fixing them or simply using their parts. The foregoing, of course, invalidates the guarantee, being completely excluded from any change by the company. Microsoft wants to change this and has joined this initiative that is gaining strength among users, allowing total freedom to the consumer.
Good news if all this research and Microsoft initiative comes to fruition, considering that it would be one of the first technology companies to make this kind of paradigm shift, unlike Apple, for example, which is the opposite. Microsoft expects to see and publish the results obtained from the research and analysis sometime in 2022, date on which it will be decided whether to continue with the initiative or finally to dispose of it.
